1. You run out of shampoo and since you are too lazy and the baby won't need it tomorrow, you decide to dive into the baby shampoo supply you bought months ago.
2. You decide after taking lukewarm showers for months and months, since the homestudy agency made you turn down the water heater temperature, that you have had enough of this and crank that thing back up! (We will put it down one day when she is home since even I burned my hand on the hot faucet when we first move in here).
3. You start thinking who you can donate the crib to and wonder what kind of "big girl bed" to buy.
4. You start a collection box of clothes you are pretty sure she has out grown and don't buy any clothes except for 2-3T.(She's not even 1 year old yet)
5. You take off the baby proof locks from the "baby danger" drawers (after 9 months of them being on!) and figure they go back on easily when need be. Plus they are hard to open.
6. You finally put the organic baby rice cereal away in a cabinet in the kitchen after it has been sitting on the counter for months.
7. You wonder if you have to re wash all the baby clothes since they have been collecting dust in the closet for a few months.
(Does anyone really know the answer to this one?). Same for the sheets on the crib.
8. You sit at home on a Saturday night stalking other adoption blogs to find out who got courts dates and when and where in line that puts you.
9. Your not working 60 hours/week to make sure you qualify for FMLA. Your pretty sure you'll get those 1250 hours by the time she comes home.
10. Your are planning your summer trip to SE Asia, just in case you find yourself still without your baby.

Probably wouldn't hurt to rewash the sheets :). We're praying for all of kids to come home soon!!!!
Hi - just came across your blog. For me, it hits home even more than other adoption blogs - the way you describe the waiting (it's the hardest part!), your referral day, and FMLA. But my Guatemalan adoption happened over 20 years ago! I, too, was an RN and struggled with my employer (Shriners Hospital!) to get time off to go to Guatemala and have some "maternity leave" - my boss wouldn't guarantee ANY time off! This was when FMLA was "in committee" - it became law ten years later. Finally was able to accumulate 5 wks vacation. Spent "The Long Wait" embroidering a complicated cross-stitch baby sampler, and although I bought things for the baby, I didn't take off the price tags so I wouldn't "jinx" her adoption! Praying that your daughter comes home SOON. BTW, my wonderful Guatemalan gift arrived happy and healthy, graduated from college last May with honors, and is an elementary school teacher (just substituting for now, darn it, because there are no elementary jobs here in Ohio).
